“Im tryin’ turn it around, start this thing from the ground…&& as long as sthe you’re down i know….”

Me and Davon met earlier this year in February at a networking event called The Ultimate Powershoots: Valentine Day Edition. Which was created and put together by the beautiful, Nabila El-Bey, definition check her out for the next event to come in May 2018. She is the queen of connections!
Davon remains consistent with his work and he keeps his images simple and engaging allowing for the consumer and customer to crave for more. Earlier in the month, March 17th to be exact I was invited by local apparel designer Jacquay Hosey, known as artist Blak King Folk, to attend the 007: The Assassin Fashion Show put together by the Stampede School of Modeling and A Disease Called Hope in theDistrict of Columbia.
L. A. F. A. C. T stands for Ladies Are Fascinating Alluring Captivating Tantalizing; a understanding in which he believes is true for the most if not all women. His brand became a reality on the 2nd of February 2015, catering to the continued growth of the women around him, while using business to attract even more.
Essentially, business has grown, now reaching out to men, his style of fashion is street with a mix of lounge. Definitely a brand that can be worn daily; it’s simple and clean look allows for you to expand on your style while supporting his branded apparel. With an exception of a few specialty pieces like the one I’m wearing with the purple trim of leaves.
Catch up with him in Dallas, April 29th and Atlanta, May 6th to see what he has in stored next!!!
What a great weekend of voyage and connection in The District of Columbia that is! I got the chance to support L.A.F.A.C.T; local brand designer and musical artist Jacquay Hosey who goes by performing name Blak King Folk. L.A.F.A.C.T clothing brand is a fashion line that targets all markets, and was founded to empower young women and girls and create opportunities for them in fashion.
The fashion show called 007: The Assassin was presented by Stampede School of Modeling & A Disease Called Hope on March 17th, this past Saturday. There were so many talented designers from the DMV area, such as Greek Junky, Amorous by Lanee J., DJS Lifestyles, VI II IV Clothing, Hotmomma Designer…just to name a few.
A while back I had previously supported Jacquay’s album cover for “Playas Ball” as well as an model extra in one of his music videos “Any Day Can Be The Day” which peeked views of over 10k within the first month.
It’s not easy to brand yourself but we all must give credit where credit is due and this king is a artist whose managed to brand his own image on his own terms with his own vision. This calls for a future fashion review!! Smooches!!
So I got a chance to link with Donnie Kyte, owner of Molly’s World Boutique and creator of IkeWear36, and was able to get a few new pieces from the release of their new ladies collection. The colors chosen to spark the excitement went well with the cultural shift we have been experiencing in recent days. The material used with this line gives great with wear. The lips printed on the back pockets give an extra spice. Also these pieces are transitional so you won’t be stuck in seasons and events with this multipurpose style!!
These pieces along with other pieces can be found and purchased both online and in store at www.mollysworldboutiques.com.
The Hill district has been a key place for the city of Pittsburgh. Once being known as little Haiti to then little New Yorker because of the melting pot it became, The Hill district has been known to produce greatness! From the Jazz music influencers like Art Blakey, Erroll Garner to hip hop; such as Mel Man and Jimmy wopo, sheesh we’ve even created sport leagues. The Hill was a center for the Underground Railroad and the abolitionist movement before the civil war. With all this greatness it was bound to be tampered with.
That’s where Donnie Kyte comes into play. The key is to do for self. Self sufficiency is freedom and this man has been free for 20years. A vet in the game and one of the many influencers from and on the Hill District. And mannnnnn, nephs he’s dope!!!
Growing up in the heart of the city he knew he wanted to live life and not behind the walls of the jails created for us. What started as a way out from an idea gradually yet quickly became a plan for Donnie Kyte, owner of IkeWear, to sustain himself, his family, and community. He makes history everyday because he is history!
IkeWear36 is more than just a brand it’s a movement based on unison and self sufficiency. IkeWear36 sells apparel clothing back to its community. Appealing to the men and women of the district and surrounding neighborhoods. It’s a family affair because he even caters to the children, next up shoes and accessories. You can purchase his brand along with other black branded business at his Centre Avenue location called Molly’s World Boutique.

“It’s never the situation it’s the principle behind it” ~Self-Branded
Who woulda thought the years of sitting in Grandma Lucy attic would turn into a branded business of men in unison. Today I got to sit down with Lamar Wright for awhile, with part of GLA Productions in the background recording all the in between action that came along with it.
Self Brand is geared around the idea of uniting those of entrepreneurs just as myself in networking and building on the work of their portfolio for business. Self Brand has established apparel to help side in rooting the business financially while still pushing forward in collaboration with GLA Productions.

Another success to a well planned event put together once again by the beautifully spirited Nabíla Yasamen El-Bey. The beautiful Modie.J was the host for the night and DJ Goodnight was live on the 1s and 2s.
This time around I got to take a chance and do photography with Madela , half of the Picture It Wright team with Johnthan, and @ArtHousePgh. Awesome awesome awesome vibes from them everyone all evening. Y’all see that flower center chest it was painted by the lovely Allison Melczak of Mad Culture and Other Creative Things. Keith Blockton of KB Innovative Promotions was in the building, Kastles lingerie was everything and then some, Boonie the Kid has his Blue Diamond Vodka was in effect. Everything was dope!! I’m excited to start receiving my photos back from the event; which, by the way, will be posted in the next blog to come showing the work of the photographers. Can’t wait to see what Nabíla has in stored next for us. Smooches!!!

Starting off as a radio host of No Chill Radio gave the start in the right direction for Paige. She created her brand “Wrk.Play” and did a few concepts. Those concepts evolved to an even bigger presence for herself. After a much needed dose of growth she went from hosting to really wearing a fashion designers hat. Paige never stopped her goal she gave it a new twist. We were all caught up in Paige’s web for a few years with her intricate detailed webbed styled, but then she revamped her brand and gave it a fresh look thus, Fresh Produce Apparel was created.
Fresh Produce Apparel is just that, fresh Apparel for the everyday wearer, innovator, stylist, fashionista with the flare of urban wear giving a constant look that keeps you classic yet allows you to remain on trend. Her recent venture took off with some inspiration from the F-A-B-O-L-O-U-S family. Adding hand painted pop art to looks of different denim style sent the city in a whirlwind.
Paige is a woman with a heart of gold and she’s allowing her inner wealth shine brighter than the sun! That’s extreme black woman magic! You can check out her designs and styles on her newly revamped website www.freshproduceapparel.bigcartel.com!! Liking for updates sooner you can also follow her on Facebook @PaigeCorrin and Instagram @freshproduce_paige. Oh and for 24/hr fun hit her Snapchat too @Paigaaa!!!

To never be broke again it’s not just a lifestyle it’s a movement. NeverBrokeAgain (N.B.A) goal behind the business is to become self sufficient…real live self made boss!! Raukeem Hawkins serves the mission well and with great purpose.
Hold up hold up, peep my shirt though…gang gang!! This one here is a FarESH Brand throwback. Make sure you check out my previous post with the interview of the brand owner and creative director Ryan Brown.
I met Raukeem back almost two decades ago but back then he was just a man with a paper route and a potentially bright future ahead. Well he took that potential and made it a reality for himself. Reaching his lowest of lows gave him the bounce back to get up and stand up on all ten toes! We got to sit down at Hello Bistro over on East Carson Street of the Southside to talk about what’s next for business and how he plans to sustain the empire he has.
Click the link below to hear this black mans magic plan to action!! Oh and forgive the hiccup in the conversation had to adjust the sound for my listeners! Smooches!!
