Earlier in the month, March 17th to be exact I was invited by local apparel designer Jacquay Hosey, known as artist Blak King Folk, to attend the 007: The Assassin Fashion Show put together by the Stampede School of Modeling and A Disease Called Hope in theDistrict of Columbia.
L. A. F. A. C. T stands for Ladies Are Fascinating Alluring Captivating Tantalizing; a understanding in which he believes is true for the most if not all women. His brand became a reality on the 2nd of February 2015, catering to the continued growth of the women around him, while using business to attract even more.
Essentially, business has grown, now reaching out to men, his style of fashion is street with a mix of lounge. Definitely a brand that can be worn daily; it’s simple and clean look allows for you to expand on your style while supporting his branded apparel. With an exception of a few specialty pieces like the one I’m wearing with the purple trim of leaves.
Catch up with him in Dallas, April 29th and Atlanta, May 6th to see what he has in stored next!!!
What a great weekend of voyage and connection in The District of Columbia that is! I got the chance to support L.A.F.A.C.T; local brand designer and musical artist Jacquay Hosey who goes by performing name Blak King Folk. L.A.F.A.C.T clothing brand is a fashion line that targets all markets, and was founded to empower young women and girls and create opportunities for them in fashion.
The fashion show called 007: The Assassin was presented by Stampede School of Modeling & A Disease Called Hope on March 17th, this past Saturday. There were so many talented designers from the DMV area, such as Greek Junky, Amorous by Lanee J., DJS Lifestyles, VI II IV Clothing, Hotmomma Designer…just to name a few.
A while back I had previously supported Jacquay’s album cover for “Playas Ball” as well as an model extra in one of his music videos “Any Day Can Be The Day” which peeked views of over 10k within the first month.
It’s not easy to brand yourself but we all must give credit where credit is due and this king is a artist whose managed to brand his own image on his own terms with his own vision. This calls for a future fashion review!! Smooches!!
So I got a chance to link with Donnie Kyte, owner of Molly’s World Boutique and creator of IkeWear36, and was able to get a few new pieces from the release of their new ladies collection. The colors chosen to spark the excitement went well with the cultural shift we have been experiencing in recent days. The material used with this line gives great with wear. The lips printed on the back pockets give an extra spice. Also these pieces are transitional so you won’t be stuck in seasons and events with this multipurpose style!!
These pieces along with other pieces can be found and purchased both online and in store at www.mollysworldboutiques.com.
The Hill district has been a key place for the city of Pittsburgh. Once being known as little Haiti to then little New Yorker because of the melting pot it became, The Hill district has been known to produce greatness! From the Jazz music influencers like Art Blakey, Erroll Garner to hip hop; such as Mel Man and Jimmy wopo, sheesh we’ve even created sport leagues. The Hill was a center for the Underground Railroad and the abolitionist movement before the civil war. With all this greatness it was bound to be tampered with.
That’s where Donnie Kyte comes into play. The key is to do for self. Self sufficiency is freedom and this man has been free for 20years. A vet in the game and one of the many influencers from and on the Hill District. And mannnnnn, nephs he’s dope!!!
Growing up in the heart of the city he knew he wanted to live life and not behind the walls of the jails created for us. What started as a way out from an idea gradually yet quickly became a plan for Donnie Kyte, owner of IkeWear, to sustain himself, his family, and community. He makes history everyday because he is history!
IkeWear36 is more than just a brand it’s a movement based on unison and self sufficiency. IkeWear36 sells apparel clothing back to its community. Appealing to the men and women of the district and surrounding neighborhoods. It’s a family affair because he even caters to the children, next up shoes and accessories. You can purchase his brand along with other black branded business at his Centre Avenue location called Molly’s World Boutique.

After a most anticipated release three great men have achieved an improbable feat and have fused together a way to meet new people without doubt. After being catfished a few times you tend to see a trend. Shoot a whole television show, called Catfished…duh, lol, was created on the biases of people who were getting cat fished just to see the proof of being cat-fished. Well where there is necessity comes innovation and that’s when Keith had the idea to create a app that eliminates the games.
Meet the creators of new dating app, recently released Valentine’s Day, VideoMe. Creator Keith Sims, along with partners Darius Dennison and Kashiff Miles have created a new way to find love. And guess what?? No more cat-fishing! This new app cuts the middle man out and get straight to the point with only the use of uploading videos. Eliminating still pictures allows for only a real update and a that means a real interaction.
Make sure to download the app on iTunes..And I don’t wanna hear why you didn’t do it because guess what, it’s FREE!!

Lashawn Reed Day was everything!! This is the 2nd annual event held in celebration of the Queen Lashawn. This all family event was filled with a live deejay, live performances, live entertainment, and words of encouragement from Lashawn herself along with guest speaker, executive director Kevin McNair of 1Nation Mentoring.
Lashawn, owner of Strong Ambitious Women; S.A.W LLC, is more than just a mentor she is a author of self help book “You Are Your Thoughts”, she is a conscious artist that goes by the name SBoo, and her commitment to the young women in the City of Pittsburgh is reason for being awarded this day.
Throughout the event while Deejay Deez played great music on the 1s and 2a all you could see when you looked across the gymnasium of Pittsburgh Langley K-8 were the youth running around in the designs of Lashawn Reed’s clothing line that recently just dropped called “Eye Am Somebody”, 8th grader Aaliyah Knight gave words of wisdom stating,” Belief is what you are, belief is what you do”. Kevin McNair gave his back story giving the hope that, ” If you get a thought and have a plan you will be successful,” his words hold proof because of the miles he’s already walked in of his own shoes. Locally signed artist Latia E.F.B performed her hit “Live It Up” after being hyped up prior by the Dream Dancers DDFD. Everything came together very well.
Face painting for the children was provided by Lachelle Allen owner of LA Creative Eye. There was free food, free haircuts, and gift card giveaways. Btw, my daughter Destinee won a raffle giveaway…whoot whoot!! Great local support was in the building with Lashawn Reeds’ sister Shawneca; The Shade Queen #ShadedByTheQueen, music producer Dj Stevie B, Bree x Chon #PirateGang412, Virgil of Virgboogi Designs, as well as Original Telegenic Productions. If you wasn’t there you missed out on a great event, but don’t worry you always have next year so go ahead and save the date because February 16th is LASHAWN REED DAY!! She is making history, BLACK HISTORY! Smooches!!
