Lashawn Reed Day!!

“Comparison is an act of violence against the self” ~Iyanla Vanzant

Lashawn Reed Day was everything!! This is the 2nd annual event held in celebration of the Queen Lashawn. This all family event was filled with a live deejay, live performances, live entertainment, and words of encouragement from Lashawn herself along with guest speaker, executive director Kevin McNair of 1Nation Mentoring.

Lashawn, owner of Strong Ambitious Women; S.A.W LLC, is more than just a mentor she is a author of self help book “You Are Your Thoughts”, she is a conscious artist that goes by the name SBoo, and her commitment to the young women in the City of Pittsburgh is reason for being awarded this day.

Throughout the event while Deejay Deez played great music on the 1s and 2a all you could see when you looked across the gymnasium of Pittsburgh Langley K-8 were the youth running around in the designs of Lashawn Reed’s clothing line that recently just dropped called “Eye Am Somebody”, 8th grader Aaliyah Knight gave words of wisdom stating,” Belief is what you are, belief is what you do”. Kevin McNair gave his back story giving the hope that, ” If you get a thought and have a plan you will be successful,” his words hold proof because of the miles he’s already walked in of his own shoes. Locally signed artist Latia E.F.B performed her hit “Live It Up” after being hyped up prior by the Dream Dancers DDFD. Everything came together very well.

Face painting for the children was provided by Lachelle Allen owner of LA Creative Eye. There was free food, free haircuts, and gift card giveaways. Btw, my daughter Destinee won a raffle giveaway…whoot whoot!! Great local support was in the building with Lashawn Reeds’ sister Shawneca; The Shade Queen #ShadedByTheQueen, music producer Dj Stevie B, Bree x Chon #PirateGang412, Virgil of Virgboogi Designs, as well as Original Telegenic Productions. If you wasn’t there you missed out on a great event, but don’t worry you always have next year so go ahead and save the date because February 16th is LASHAWN REED DAY!! She is making history, BLACK HISTORY! Smooches!!

&& Beaulity Is Her Name!!

“So thick that everyone else in the room is so uncomfortable, Ass on Houston Texas, but the face look just like Claire Huxtable…”

First off let me just say I was supppperrrrrr relaxed this day from running around with all this school work and assignments and getting ready for the holiday because I work retail *ughhhhhh* I was looking a mess! But Jaèlaun Moses showed up to the Starbucks down Market Square looking effortlessly beautiful.

The energy that Jaè came with gave me that much more energy while being there with her. She has so much to offer while helping with the self esteem of women and men. Becoming a Duquesne graduated didn’t come easy but it was as a journey completed. While in school she started with her apparel called “Beaulity” and then her business evolved into women’s empowerment luncheons, modeling became a hobby, along with adding the title of author under her belt, publishing her first book at the start of summer titled ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered‘. This book is of letters written to specific people that had some kind of impact in her life both negatively and positively, written almost as if to be having a conversation . She’s in the works of a second book that will have the same concept but with a more open forum allowing for others to do the same thing she was able to do with herself in book one.

“I like my girlsssss BBW…”

Jaèlaun is rewriting the standard and raising the bar. She’s not the standard, she is above average and it’s the strength and love that she gives herself that has helped her flourish into the women she is now and still striving and thriving to become. Let’s make sure we keep supporting this magic so that this queen can keep producing black girl magic!! Smooches!!

Make sure to get your copy of ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered‘ on Amazon!!

Rewriting Our Future…One Letter at a Time!!!

“I believe in miracles, and uhhh ooooohhhhhh a miracle…”

So I’m sitting in freaking Starbucks down East Liberty, “East End” for those millennials, and I’m eating my maple chicken *bombbbbbbbb* from Whole Foods staring out the window thinking…this is it commitment is key *sucks teeth* I freaking left my questions at home, but fudge it he’s dope I’ll just have to wing this interview. Thank goodness I did because it was thee greatest, most inspirational conversation ever.

I met Brian Burley a little over a decade ago but at that time he was a senior, future graduate from Schenley High School, now known as Obama International. WE ARE SPARTANS!! Who would’ve thought his future plans were going to be bigger than the city housing the dream of the the goal.

Jump forward now, not only is Brian a Schenley graduate and Pitt Alumni; receiving his MBA, now he is an accredited author of the book, YNGBLKPGH. Young Black Pittsburgh is a book comprised together of 100+ success stories of black entrepreneurs in the city of Pittsburgh, “Rewriting our future. One letter at a time.” If you haven’t purchased a copy you need to get yours ASAP!!

Brian has found a way to create, give, and show are youth that we are more than just reality television and negative stereotypes. He has the vision to know and see through the strength behind the truths we seek, and there’s a book to prove it. By the way this is such a dope picture of us and though my freaking belt is shifted *smacks forehead* my fit is sooooo freaking cute. *sighs* I love getting dressed for life.
